The site and the service are operated by the University of Stuttgart. User Contributions

The purpose of LicenseChecker is to support researchers in selecting a suitable open source software licence. The service offers you the opportunity to upload content in the form of research software and/or files for listing dependencies of software in order to determine the software licences contained. The content is analysed and the analysis results are stored. The content itself, however, is not stored and is deleted after the analysis.  The analysis results, on the other hand, can also be accessed by third parties. You affirm and warrant that you are legally entitled and authorised to transmit any content to the University of Stuttgart. You will not provide the University of Stuttgart with any confidential or copyrighted information that you want to or must keep secret. The University of Stuttgart is not obliged to monitor the website, the service, the content or the user contributions.

By posting contents or using the Service, you make the following representations and warranties to the University of Stuttgart:

  1. You hereby undertake to use the Service in accordance with the relevant DFG or university codes of conduct for scientific integrity and for the use of personal data in research. See also the Guidelines for the Handling of Research Data of the DFG, the Research Data Policy of the University of Stuttgart as well as the Statutes of the University of Stuttgart for Safeguarding the Integrity of Scientific Practice and for Handling Misconduct in Science.
  2. You take maximum precautions to ensure that the contributions (content) you post via DaRUS are free of harmful software, such as viruses, etc.

Compensation

Irrespective of § 6 of the Regulations for the Use of Digital Information Processing and Communication Technology (IuK) at the University of Stuttgart, you are obliged to compensate the University of Stuttgart for all damages resulting from the violation of these Terms of Use.

Data Protection

For ensuring the service operation, access to the service is logged, including the accessing IP address. Detailed information can be found in the License Checker Privacy Policy.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without any express or implied warranties of any kind. In particular, the use of the service cannot replace legal advice. Specifically, the University of Stuttgart DOES NOT warrant that:

  1. the content is timely, accurate, complete, reliable or accurate;
